Beginning of the OFF season

6:12 at HIGASHIYAMAKO fishing pond by the invitation from curryman who were going to NZ for fishing. I had no choice to refuse it, of course.

His preparation.

6:27 First one was good brownie to the ant parachute which was used on the last fishing.

Early morning in GOTENBA was cold as I expected.
I wore the down jacket.

6:35 Jaguar trout? Fut to catch the rising fish.

Find the rise and cast for it.

6:48 Nice SAKURAMASU. I thought I should keep and eat it.

7:57  Not bad brown.
The number of rainbow trout was fewer than others. It was a kind of fun to see many kinds of trout.

I enjoyed the pond fishing for about 3 hours there.
Would like to keep fishing this winter.

Just one day before closing

After annual medical check,
looked like good condition there seeing several mayflies.

Missed only one chance there because of a line break when I set a hook...

Let’s move to another stream.

Got the first and last one in the evening at a huge pool.

Said thank you for the last day of the AMAGO season this year.
And let’s think of the beginning of the Rainbow trout season, Lance!

Before and After medical check up

Before the medical check, visited the river C first time this season(7:30-9:30).

Got several strikes though, could catch this one only.
Missed only one big chance... Don't forget that hole.

After medical check, fished at river D from 15:00-17:00.
Mantis was controlled by HARIGANEMUSHI likely.

15:59 Could catch only this one rising for something.
Couldn't forget the good one's take earlier than it...

Nymphing

From 6:15 to 8:45. Water level got increased because of last night's heavy rain. Sometimes it was so windy though, #3 carbon rod worked well today. Tied the dry fly first, but changed to the nymph system soon. I couldn't remember when I used nymph last time.
After missing big strike once,

joyful moment has come(8:30).

25.5cm beautiful one.Thanks god!
Would like to check and improve all fly fishing skill until next hot summer.

Not bad fish as early morning in fall

From 6:15-8:10 AM. Had a very little rain sometimes, basically cloudy but so windy. Sometime I couldn't cast without waiting. #2 glass rod was difficult to cast against the strong wind. Saw the small moss on the surface. Hooked up so-so one at the pool near the fall though, he escaped from me soon... Next I got a kind of golden opportunity this morning though, why I couldn't set a hook on him well...
And got above fish at almost last hole by small ant parachute(7:59). Not bad fish, thanks god!

He ate two files in short time; after 22km mountain biking

Left home 4:17, picked curryman around 4:45 and joined ICHIGO and his wife there 8AM there as scheduled. According to the web site, water level showed 0.27m and I had a kind of optimistic feeling before coming. But my thought changed a little after seeing the actual stream there.

We had to keep biking up along the river to find the clear colored and moderate water leveled stream.

After 22km biking, we found the better stream looked like we could fish(11AM).

Caught small but first fish at 11:12 at the lower branch stream.  Next I checked the branch stream upper section though, there was no sense of fish... So I gave up keep fishing there and headed for them upstream.

Caught several small ones, but couldn't catch any good one for a long time...

14:13 The fantastic moment has come!

He took my Humpy pattern very slowly at the shallow first.
I could set a hook once though, felt no tension soon because of line break. Its position was a little below the connection leader and tippet, so it must be damaged between the rocks on the land. Oh my god... But I kept trying without any give up.

He reacted Wright's Royal pattern next, but couldn't take my fly well. I tied #20 Griffith's Gnat as the third one. After several casts, could set a hook. He tugged so strong in the riffle, so I paid utmost attention not to let him go. Stepped down several water drops with him. Can you see two files on above pic? I found Humpy pattern(below) in his mouse. He surely ate two files in short time. It was definitely my first experience. What a day!

Blissful time.

33cm nice buck.

HARIGANEMUSHI from the ICHIGO's fish.

Threat of nature...

Crazy folks... See you again at the river edge.

At a loss, twice...

9/10 Took a day off on Monday.
Made a preparation at 6:04.
Saw a flooded and colored stream around 6:15.
That was it...

9/16, on the day of NAMIE AMURO's retirement.
6:30 Joined ICHIGO and his wife around the gate.
We left there about 7:30.
Did see very colored and high float stream soon...
I was at a loss twice in a week...

We climbed up to find the hole we were able to fish. But could find nothing...
10:07 Stopped by the lodge to get information and soft cream.

It was my first visit.

Crazy biker...

11:35 Could catch small IWANA from the shallow near the bank.

Strict teacher and obedient student.

16:03 It was a kind of miracle.

About 26 nice AMAGO!
Thanks god and ICHIGO!!

17:49 OTSUKARESAMADESHITA...
See you there next year again.
